Hulu is getting more competitive in the streaming TV service arena.

On Friday, Hulu announced that, starting next month, all Hulu + Live TV subscribers will receive unlimited DVR storage at no additional cost. YouTube TV, the other major player in live TV streaming, already offers unlimited recording space to subscribers.

At present, Hulu Live TV+ subscribers can record up to 50 hours of live TV to the cloud DVR, with an enhanced cloud DVR package offered for an extra fee (either $9.99 on its own for 200 cloud hours, or $14.99 for the same amount of space, but with unlimited screens). But, starting April 13, Hulu will roll out the new changes, and subscribers of the enhanced services will transition to unlimited DVR, and receive reduction in their bills.

“Through one single subscription, users get access to 80+ live channels – including all the major
broadcast networks – as well as Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and soon Unlimited DVR,” Joe Earley, president
of Hulu, said in a statement. “Guided by our relentless focus on delivering the consumer a high-quality user experience, we will be one of the only pay TV providers – traditional or streaming – to offer this feature as part of the base plan at no additional cost.”

Hulu + Live TV has 4.3 million subscribers. The current pricing structure has two tiers — Hulu + Live TV now with Disney+ and ESPN+ for $69.99/month, or the $75.99/month option, which allows access to streaming videos in Hulu’s library without ads.

YouTube TV, by contrast, is $64.99 a month. Similar services, though usually not with local channels, including the major broadcast networks, for streaming live TV include Sling TV and philo.
