Hope’s in the Air in New ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Trailer (Video)

Philip Seymour Hoffman joins the franchise when the sequel to the 2012 hit lands in theaters this fall

Despite the overwhelming odds against Katniss Everdeen and the disgruntled people of Panem, a new international trailer for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" suggests hope is in the air.

"Something's different," Prim Everdeen (Willow Shields) tells her big sister, played by Jennifer Lawrence. "I can see it."

When Katniss asks what she sees, the young girl — who inspired Katniss to volunteer for the Hunger Games in the first film — says she sees "hope."

Liam Hemsworth's character, Gale, is also hoping that the oppressed population living under totalitarian government rule in the twelve Districts of Panem will rise up  and fight for freedom.

Meanwhile, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) is hoping Katniss will start showing him affection when the cameras aren't rolling, and Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) is hoping the duo can stay alive in the Quarter Queel edition of the Hunger Games, which puts them up against previous Hunger Games winners.

Lionsgate's "Catching Fire," directed by Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend"), rolls into theaters on Nov. 22. Here's the new preview:
