IFC’s ‘Portlandia’ Season 5 Return Set for January (Video)

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein return with a slew of guest stars including Seth Meyers and Jeff Goldblum.

IFC is taking viewers back to “Portlandia,” as the hit comedy starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstien will debut its fifth season on January 8 at 10 p.m.

Armisen and Brown won’t be a short on comedy stars to help bring the laughs as the season unfolds.

A laundry list of upcoming cameos includes Seth Meyers, Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Bayer, Ed Begley Jr., Steve Buscemi, Greta Gerwig, Anna Gunn, Justin Long, Jane Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, Kyle MacLachlan, Kumail Nanjiani, Brigitte Nielsen, Parker Posey, Paul Reubens and Olivia Wilde.

Additional guests Shepard Fairey, “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening, Paul Simon and Oscar the Grouch will be glimpsed as well. An epic, Christopher Nolan-esque trailer released Thursday showcased the various Oregon residents the pair will bring to life.

“Portlandia” has received multiple Emmy award nominations including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Fred Armisen, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series for Jonathan Krisel, and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Buscemi. The IFC show also scored an Emmy win for costume design and a 2011 Peabody award.

“Portlandia” Season 5 premieres January 8 at 10 p.m. on IFC.
