James Caan to Star in ABC’s Cullen Brothers Comedy

James Caan will play a beer-swilling ex baseball player whose estranged daughter moves in with him

The "Godfather" actor has been cast to star in ABC's untitled comedy from "Las Vegas" producers Mark and Robb Cullen.

The series revolves around recently divorced single mother Terry Gannon, who temporarily moves in with her estranged father — a beer-swilling former baseball player. In her new situation, Gannon reluctantly decides to coach her son's underdog little-league team, drawing her back into the world of sports that she vowed to leave behind.

Caan will play Terry Sr. in the single-camera project.

The Cullens will write the the comedy, while Aaron Kaplan ("The Inbetweeners," "The Neighbors") is attached to executive produce the project, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television.

Caan also has a recurring role in the upcoming second season of the Starz drama "Magic City," as Chicago mob boss Sy Berman.
