‘Jane the Virgin’ Sneak Peek Teases Desperate Rescue Attempt for Baby Mateo (Exclusive Video)

Season 2 of the Gina Rodriguez-led dramedy premieres Monday on The CW

A lot went down on the first season of The CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” but thankfully a new video will catch viewers up just in time for the Season 2 premiere — and give them a look ahead.

In the exclusive video (above), viewers are given a rundown on just how crazy things got for Jane (Gina Rodriguez), the titular heroine who has vowed to remain a virgin until marriage, even after becoming pregnant due to an accidental artificial insemination.

While she dealt with that, she became entangled in a love triangle with her fiancé-cum-ex-fiancé Michael (Brett Dier) and accidental baby daddy Rafael (Justin Baldoni). Her mother Xo (Andrea Navedo) got in on the craziness too, reconnecting with Jane’s father (Jamie Camill), a famous telenovela star, culminating in a drunken Las Vegas wedding officiated by a Cher impersonator.

Before everyone could get too caught up in the melodrama of their lives, however, something truly catastrophic happened: Jane and Rafael’s newborn son Mateo was kidnapped, just hours after his birth.

And that’s just Season 1.

Watch the video above for a look at how Jane and Co. got here, and how they plan to get Mateo back.

Season 2 of “Jane The Virgin” premieres Monday at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
