Jason Bateman Beats Kids at Their Own Game in ‘Bad Words’ Trailer (Video)

Because spelling bees are supposed to be for kids

Spelling bees are supposed to be competitions just for kids, but Jason Bateman found a loophole to compete, anyway, in a new trailer for “Bad Words.”

The R-rated comedy, which is the “Arrested Development” star’s directorial debut, follows a foul-mouthed adult who wiggles his way into a spelling bee because he never graduated the 8th grade. In between spelling words and insulting his underage competition, he befriends a young boy (Rohan Chand) and introduces him to the wonderful world of boobs.

Kathryn Hahn (“We’re the Millers”) plays a journalist who attempts to understand why a 40-year-old man would want to crush kids, and ends up sleeping with him, instead.

Her panties appear to play an intricate role in Bateman’s strategy for victory.

“Bad Words” hits theaters on March 28.
