Jason Sudeikis will guest star on the upcoming second season of Fox’s  Emmy-nominated series “The Last Man on Earth,” the network announced Thursday.

At the conclusion of Season 1, Sudeikis appeared briefly as Phil Miller’s (Will Forte) astronaut brother who has been stuck in space after a virus decimated the earth’s population, except for a handful of survivors. In the Season 2 premiere, Phil, Carol (Kristen Schaal) and their legion of loyal sports balls strike out on their own after Phil was banned from Tucson by the rest of the group.

Sudeikis starred on “Saturday Night Live” for eight seasons from 2005 to 2013, during which time Forte was also a cast member. Sudeikis has since enjoyed a successful film career, including “Horrible Bosses” and the sequel, “Horrible Bosses 2,” opposite Jason Bateman and Charlie Day. His other recent films include “We’re the Millers” with Jennifer Aniston; independent drama “Tumbledown,” opposite Rebecca Hall; “Sleeping With Other People,” with Alison Brie; and “Masterminds,” alongside Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson and Kristin Wiig.

“The Last Man on Earth” was recently nominated for four 2015 Emmy Awards: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Forte), Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Forte) and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Phil Lord and Chris Miller each received a nomination).

Fox also announced that the team from “Bones” will get a hand solving a new mystery from the cast of “Sleepy Hollow” in a special Halloween crossover event.

Beginning on “Bones,” the discovery of human remains lead Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) on a hunt for clues, during which they encounter Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), searching for answers of their own.

Then, immediately following on “Sleepy Hollow,” the mystery continues as Ichabod’s old nemesis is back from the dead. Ichabod and Abbie need advanced forensic help and expertise to stop him and turn to Brennan and Booth to unlock 18th century secrets using 21st century science.

“The Last Man on Earth” is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and was created by Will Forte. It is executive-produced by Forte, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Seth Cohen and Dan Sterling.

“Bones” is from Far Field Productions and Josephson Entertainment in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by Hart Hanson. Hanson, Barry Josephson, Stephen Nathan, Jonathan Collier, Michael Peterson and Randy Zisk are executive producers.
