Jeff Daniels Tells Jay Leno About Leaving His Wife at a Truck Stop (Video)

"It seems to me that the casting for 'Dumb & Dumber' was appropriate"

"The Newsroom" star Jeff Daniels faced down an old accusation on "The Tonight Show" Monday: Yes, he admitted, he once forgot his wife at a truck stop.

Years ago, Daniels said, he left his wife at a truck stop on a trip to the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame.

Daniels had an RV full of kids and had just been mistaken for Jeff Bridges. Distracted as he was, he hit the road without her.

He finally tracked down his wife, who concluded: "It seems to me that the casting for 'Dumb & Dumber' was appropriate."

Perhaps even more amusing wasa segment in which Leno shared a 1982 commercial that Daniels did for Pepto Bismol. "Diarrhea" is mentioned a number of times in the 1982 clip, But in the end, Daniels got a standing ovation from the "Tonight Show" studio audience for his acting chops.
