Jerry Seinfeld Thinks He Falls on the Autism ‘Spectrum’ (Video)

“I just think of it as an alternate mindset,” the former sitcom says in a new interview

Jerry Seinfeld is a 60-year-old comedian who is still growing up, and has recently realized he may be autistic, to some degree.

“I think in a very drawn-out scale, I think I’m on the spectrum,” Seinfeld told “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams in a new interview (above).

Seinfeld isn’t, however, necessarily arguing he has a neurodevelopmental disorder classified under the  American Psychiatric Association’s spectrum, which includes autism, Asperger syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), childhood disintegrative disorder and Rett syndrome.

Instead, the “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” host described certain “markers” that indicate his “alternate mindset.”

“You’re never paying attention to the right things. Basic social engagement is really a struggle. I’m very literal. When people talk to me and they use expressions, sometimes I don’t know what they’re saying,” Seinfeld said. “I don’t see it as dysfunctional, I just think of it as an alternate mindset.”
