Jessica Chastain to Receive Desert Palm Achievement Award at Palm Springs Film Festival

“The Eyes of Tammy Faye” star will be honored at gala ceremony returning in-person on Jan. 6, 2022

Jessica Chastain has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Desert Palm Achievement Award for an actress from the Palm Springs International Film Awards and Film Festival.

“The Eyes of Tammy Faye” star will be honored at a gala ceremony at the festival, which is returning as an in-person event next year at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The gala ceremony will take place on Jan. 6, 2022.

Chastain was previously honored in Palm Springs with the Chairman’s Award in 2018 and the Spotlight Award in 2012.

Past winners of the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress include Halle Berry, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Olivia Colman, Marion Cotillard, Viola Davis, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, Saoirse Ronan, Charlize Theron and Renée Zellweger.

Chastain also joins this year’s previously announced honorees, including Jane Campion (Director of the Year Award), Penélope Cruz (International Star Award, Actress) and Kristen Stewart (Spotlight Award, Actress).

“In ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye,’ Jessica Chastain brilliantly portrays televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker in a story that chronicles her singular life and style,” festival chairman Harold Matzner said. “Jessica once again showcases both her acting and singing talents, embracing the makeup, hairstyles and fashion of Tammy Faye. For her outstanding Oscar-worthy performance, it is our honor to present the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress to Jessica Chastain.”

“The Eyes of Tamme Faye” was released by Searchlight Pictures earlier this fall and stars Chastain alongside Andrew Garfield, Cherry Jones and Vincent D’Onofrio. She’ll next be seen in “The 355,” “The Good Nurse,” “The Forgiven” and “George & Tammy.”

Chastain is a two-time Oscar nominee and is known for her work in “The Help,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Tree of Life,” “Interstellar,” “Molly’s Game” and more.
