Jimmy Carter Praises Fox News Host ‘for Your Good Work on Television’

Neil Cavuto is complemented by former president who he used to intern for

Former President Jimmy Carter praised longtime Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto for his work on the network Tuesday, and for his time interning for the Carter administration in the late 1970s.

“I remember getting coffee and working the copier. I learned a lot,” Cavuto said to Carter on Fox Business.

“Well thank you, Neil,” said the 93-year-old ex-president. “You did more than just get coffee, but thank you very much for being an intern and also for your good work on television.”

Fox News hosts and anchors are rarely praised by liberals — especially former Democratic presidents. Carter’s words contrast with how he is often spoken of by Fox’s on-air personalities, many of whom routinely disparage him and his single term in office.

In addition to praising his former intern, Carter addressed what he said were President Donald Trump’s issues with the truth.

“I think it’s been proven that on a number of occasions, President Trump has made statements that were not exactly correct,” said Carter. “I think that elevating the truth to a top position where you’re careful not to ever make a statement that might be misleading to somebody else is a very worthwhile thing to do.”

He also warned that Democrats would be foolish to try and use impeachment as a campaign strategy.

“I don’t talk about impeachment,” he said. “I think that’s the wrong thing for Democrats to do.”
