If Kanye West actually runs for office in 2020, voters should expect to hear more of what they’re already hearing leave Donald Trump’s mouth.
Jimmy Kimmel compared the rapper’s MTV VMAs acceptance speech for the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award with a number of Trump’s media appearances, and found the public figures hold nearly identical positions — making them perfect running mates on a dream team of absurdity.
“I think Kanye would make a very compelling candidate,” Kimmel said Monday while introducing the segment to his viewers. “He has a great deal in common with another famous person who wants to be president.”
Each star has addressed their individual popularity, TV ratings, marijuana and popular brands, and even announced their presidential candidacy in equally entertaining fashion.
“Thank you, President Trump and future President Kanye West,” Kimmel said at the end of the hilarious montage. But why wait for 2020? Trump has yet to pick a vice presidential candidate, and it seems West could be the perfect person for the job — if all voters care about is pop culture appeal, at least.
