J.K. Rowling has some choice words for men who say they are liberal but make sexist comments about women. In a series of tweets Friday morning, the mega-author laid it all out. Rowling started out by telling her followers that she unfollowed a man that she previously respected because he called Theresa May a “whore.”

The United Kingdom held a special election Thursday and May’s conservative party lost their majority. The fact that a man called May a “whore” because he disagrees with her politics is what really rallied Rowling — in spite of the fact that the author does not side with May, politically. “If you can’t disagree with a woman without reaching for all those filthy old insults, screw you and your politics,” she tweeted. “I’m sick of ‘liberal’ men whose mask slips every time a woman displeases them.”

“When you do this, Mr. Liberal Cool Guy, you ally yourself, wittingly or not, with the men who send women violent pornographic images and rape threats,” she continued in the series of 14 tweets.

“I don’t care whether we’re talking about Theresa May or Nicola Sturgeon or Kate Hooey or Yvette Cooper or Hillary Clinton: femaleness is not a design flaw. If your immediate response to a woman who displeases you is to call her a synonym for her vulva, or compare her to a prostitute, then drop the pretense and own it: you’re not a liberal.”
