John Oliver ‘Hurt’ He Wasn’t Auditioned for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ (Video)

“My real complaint is Hollywood’s unimaginative casting,” Oliver says

John Oliver doesn’t mind that he didn’t get the part of Christian Grey. But he is hurt he wasn’t even in the game.

“My real complaint is Hollywood’s unimaginative casting,” Oliver said in a web video from the set of “Last Week Tonight.”

He noted that “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Jamie Dornan is handsome and appropriate for the part in the E.L. James adaptation, but “it hurts not to have even been asked [to audition for Christian Grey].

“Sure, you pass me over for the epitome of male beauty, but whenever you need a Caucasian foreigner or a cheerful weakling, certainly my phone’s blowing up.”

Oliver then did his official audition for the part of Grey, dimming the lights and his voice.

“Hello, I’m Christian Grey, epitome of male beauty. According to Wikipedia, I’m ready to take a young woman on a journey between frumpy nerd to fully-realized sexual being.”
