John Singleton to Direct Liam Hemsworth in ‘Broken Run’

Jay Longino and Michael Browning will write the political thriller

Liam Hemsworth ("The Last Song") is attached to star in "Broken Run," a pitch for a political thriller set in Washington D.C. that has John Singleton attached to direct, an individual familiar with the project has confirmed to TheWrap.

ROAR is shopping the project, and should it find a buyer, Jay Longino and Michael Browning are expected to write the screenplay.

Longino and Browning are represented by ROAR's Josh Adler and Michael Goldberg, who recently went out with another project — Tony Giglio's spec script "The Follower." That screenplay concerns a recovering alcoholic who becomes addicted to the thrill of stalking strangers and discovers that her new obsession is perhaps more dangerous than she originally thought.

Hemsworth's brother, Chris, plays the title superhero in Marvel's "Thor." Now that Liam is gaining some real Hollywood heat, maybe his older brother will lobby to cast him in the inevitable sequel.

Singleton recently wrapped the Lionsgate thriller "Abduction" with "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner. He's still attached to direct a big screen adaptation of the Luke Cage comic book.

Hemsworth recently signed with WME, and he continues to be managed by ROAR's Will Ward, as well as by Mark Morrissey and Associates in the actor's native Australia.
