Fox is staying busy into Thursday’s east coast evening: the network has now ordered John Stamos sitcom “Grandfathered” and Gail Berman‘s “Guide to Surviving Life” to series. Both are single-cam comedies.
The first show of the grouped order (pictured above), which hails from ABC Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Television, is written and executive produced by Danny Chun. Stamos serves double-duty as both star and executive producer. Dan Fogelman also earned an executive producing credit on the project, which was directed by Chris Koch.
“Grandfathered” follows a longtime bachelor (Stamos), whose life is upended when he discovers he’s a father — and a grandfather.
In addition to Stamos’ Jimmy, Josh Peck plays Gerald, Paget Brewster is Sara, Christina Milian is Vanessa, Kelly Jenrette plays Annelise and Ravi Patel is Ken.
“The Guide to Surviving Life” hails from 20th Fox and The Jackal Group. Jay Lacopo is executive producer and writer. Gail Berman and Bill Callahan also earn exec producing credits. James Griffiths both directs and executive produces.
“Guide” is a single camera comedy that celebrates the mistakes and misadventures we all make during the years after college, before settling down.
It stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Cooper, Meaghan Rath as Kelly, James Earl as Barry, Charlie Saxton as Neal, Justin Bartha as Josh and Maureen Sebastian as Leslie.
It’s been a busy pre-upfronts day for Fox, which also ordered Rob Lowe comedy “The Grinder” and investigative drama “Rosewood” on Thursday. Fox network’s upfront event is Monday afternoon.
