John Travolta to Star in Heist Movie ‘The Forger’

Philip Martin is directing from a script by Richard D'Ovidio ("The Call")

John Travolta is set to star in director Philip Martin's heist movie "The Forger," which will be produced and co-financed by Code Entertainment and The Solution Entertainment Group.

Written by Richard D’Ovidio ("The Call"), the story follows Ray Cutter (Travolta), a former child art prodigy and second generation petty thief who arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son, only to be forced to change his plans and commit one last big job for the syndicate who financed his early release.

Code’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso will produce with Prospect Park’s Rob Carliner. Jonathan Dana and Randi Michel will executive produce with The Solution’s Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson, who will handle all international rights and introduce the film to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.  Anson Downes and Linda Favila will serve as co-executive producers. Siren Studio’s Craig Chapman, Kyle Jackson and Brendan Nutt will also executive produce the film.

Producers are planning to start production later this year. WME Global packaged and will handle domestic sales with ICM Partners.

Travolta recently starred in Oliver Stone's "Savages" and will soon be seen opposite Robert De Niro in Mark Steven Johnson's thriller "Killing Season."

Martin previously directed Benedict Cumberbatch in the BBC drama "Hawking," as well as two episodes of the Kenneth Branagh series "Wallander."

D'Ovidio recently wrote TriStar Pictures' sleeper hit "The Call" and his next film is a horror movie titled "Gallows Hill" that stars Peter Facinelli and Sophia Myles.

WME reps Martin and Travolta, who is also repped by Randi Michel of Principato-Young Entertainment. D'Ovidio is repped by Paradigm.
