Joseph Gordon-Levitt Plans ‘The Walk’ in First Trailer for Robert Zemickis’ ‘Man on Wire’ Adaptation (Video)

“Man on Wire” won the Best Documentary Academy Award in 2009

The first trailer for Robert Zemeckis‘ “The Walk” will test your fear of heights as star Joseph Gordon-Levitt balances on a steal beam over the edge of the World Trade Center.

The 2015 drama co-starring Ben Kingsley tells the true story of French high-wire artist Philippe Petit’s attempt to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974.

If Petit’s stunt sounds familiar to film buffs, it’s because it was the subject of James Marsh and Simon Chinn’s riveting 2008 documentary, “Man on Wire,” which won the Oscar for Best Documentary.

Sony is releasing “The Walk” in theaters on Oct. 2.

Watch the trailer.
