Julianne Moore Loses Herself in First ‘Still Alice’ Trailer (Video)

Moore is a Best Actress Oscar frontrunner for the Alzheimer’s drama that also stars Kristen Stewart, Alec Baldwin and Kate Bosworth

The first glimpse of the performance that’s made Julianne Moore a frontrunner for this year’s Best Actress Oscar race has been released via the first trailer for “Still Alice.”

Moore plays a brilliant psychologist who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and gradually loses her memory and her grasp of reality. Alec Baldwin co-stars as her husband, with Kristen Stewart, Hunter Parrish and Kate Bosworth as the couple’s three adult children.

The first trailer from the film shows Moore’s Alice suddenly forgetting her lines during a speech. Even more alarming, she has to write notes to remind herself the names of her children, and she can’t find her keys.

Moore’s performance has already won her plenty of accolades and awards from different organizations including the Gotham Independent Film Awards, the National Board of Review, the Palm Springs International Film Festival and more.

“Still Alice,” which has been leaked online, likely as part of the ongoing hack attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment, is currently in an Oscar-qualifying one-week release in Los Angeles. It will open wide on January 16, 2015.
