Kerry Washington Tethers Herself to ‘Django Unchained’

The “Ray” and “Last King of Scotland” actress joins Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti Western

Kerry Washington has gotten one of the most coveted gigs in Hollywood.

The "Ray" and "Last King of Scotland" actress will play Broomhilda in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," TheWrap has confirmed.

It's a gritty role for the elegant Washington.

Broomhilda is the wife of the main character, Django, and she's pretty badly traumatized.

The movie is about a bounty hunter who frees a slave, befriends him and then helps him free his wife from a particularly nasty plantation owner.

Christoph Waltz plays the dentist-turned-bounty hunter. Jamie Foxx is the freed slave, Django. Leonardo DiCaprio is the plantation owner.

Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell also star.

The Weinstein Co. will release "Django Unchained" domestically. Sony Pictures will handle it internationally.
