Kevin Hart apologized to his pregnant wife and children in an emotional Instagram video following what his rep called a “failed extortion attempt.”

In Hart’s Saturday night post, he apologized to his wife Eniko Parrish for “a bad error in judgment” that put himself “in an environment where only bad things can happen, and they did.” He went on to say that he wasn’t going to allow someone to make a “financial gain off of my mistakes.”

“Someone tried to set Kevin up in a failed extortion attempt. As law enforcement is involved, we cannot comment further as it could affect the investigation,” a rep for Hart said in a statement.

“I made a bad error in judgement and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did,” Hart said on the video. He continued, “At the end of the day, man, I just simply got to do better. But I’m not also going to allow a person to have financial gain off of my mistakes, and in this particular situation, that’s what was attempted. I said I’d rather fess up to my mistakes.”

TMZ reported earlier Saturday that a woman had “allegedly demanded money from Kevin after shooting a video with him in which Kevin and the woman are engaged in ‘sexually suggestive’ conduct.” TMZ added that their source said that it was not a sex tape, but rather looked like it was “a prelude to sex.”

The stand-up-turned actor and Parrish were married in Santa Barbara last August and are expecting their first child together, a boy. He has a daughter and son from a previous marriage.
