Kino Lorber Acquires Rights to Israeli Drama ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’

The film is the sophomore project for Israeli director Nadav Lapid

Kino Lorber announced Thursday that it has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights to “The Kindergarten Teacher,” the new feature film by Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid.

The Hebrew language film that premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival follows a Tel Aviv kindergarten teacher who discovers that one of her students has an incredible gift for poetry.

“The Kindergarten Teacher” is now scheduled to open on July 31 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City before a national expansion in August and September.

“Nadav’s new film radiates originality. Oscillating between themes of obsession and creativity his Kindergarten Teacher succumbs to passions spurred by poetry, spouted from the mouth of a toddler,” Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber said in a statement.

The deal was negotiated between Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and LE PACTE’s head of sales Camille Neel. The film will be released in all digital platforms and home media in early 2016.
