Kristen Bell, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Hunter Parrish Take Leads in Hollywood Bowl Production of ‘Hair’

All-star production, choreographed and directed by Adam Shankman, premieres the first week of August and will feature the stage show’s brief nudity

The stars have aligned to bring a very exciting lineup to the Hollywood Bowl’s upcoming production of “Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical.” Kristen Bell joins “Weeds” star Hunter Parrish and “Glee” co-stars Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz in the lead roles.

Kristen Bell is perhaps best known for her work on “Veronica Mars” and “House of Lies,” but she impressed vocally as the voice behind Anna in Disney’s “Frozen.” Bell takes on the lead role of Sheila, with Parrish portraying Claude, Ushkowitz playing Jeanie, and Riley stepping into the role of Dionne.

The foursome is joined by Beverly D’Angelo, who portrayed Sheila in the 1979 film version, Broadway veteran Benjamin Walker, R&B singer Mario, and “2 Broke Girls’” Beth Behrs.

But the biggest question may just be about the nudity in the production. Will Kristen Bell be stripping down for this Hollywood Bowl production? Will the rest of the cast?

The Hollywood Bowl website added a special note after the show description. “Includes simulated drug use, brief nudity, profanity, questioning of religion, blatant sexual positioning, refusal of authority, energy, love, beads, flowers and happiness…so enjoy!”

It certainly looks like the nudity will be a part of the show, so it may just come down to which actors will feel comfortable participating in it. Lon Hoyt will serve as conductor, with Zach Woodlee as associate director and associate choreographer. The production is scheduled for the weekend of August 1-3, 2014.
