Jimmy Kimmel Debuts Kristen Wiig’s New Indie Movie ‘Crying in a Sweater’ (Video)

“Skeleton Twins” actress wants you to know that her tears are very real

Sweater? Check. Hysterical crying? Check. Somebody start engraving “Kristen Wiig” onto an Oscar statue, post-haste.

Jimmy Kimmel debuted the trailer Monday for faux indie film “Crying in a Sweater,” which stars the genre’s new darling doing exactly what the title suggests, over and over.

Wiig was on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night making sure no one forgot about “The Martian,” but she also brought the comedy through drama, drama, drama. In the fake clip, Wiig dons a variety of sweaters and sobs in several cliche sad-sack positions.

It’s unclear what the problem actually is, though at one point a guy named Clyde walks in and makes matters worse.

The “JKL” audience didn’t know how to take the fake trailer at first, but eventually let themselves laugh when it became particularly ridiculous. Those moments included Wiig physically pointing to her waterworks while giving the camera a thumbs up, removing one sweater just to reveal another, and taking a bath in a cardigan.
