We sincerely hope Lawrence O’Donnell is having a better day today. Though honestly, in light of the above video leaking, he’s probably not.
Mediaite first posted the MSNBC show-taping outtakes on Wednesday. In the 8-minute-plus video from his Aug. 29 episode, O’Donnell gets pretty frustrated (starting at 19 seconds-in, crescendoing toward the end) with his earpiece , the control room, some lady talking about Labor Day specials, the script, and of course, the hammering. My God, the hammering.
“Stop the hammering!” he yells out into the distance from behind the desk. “Stop the hammering out there! Who’s got a hammer?”
That would not be the last we heard about this hammer.
“WHERE IS IT?” O’Donnell soon (pretty much) explodes on his staff. WHERE’S THE HAMMER?”
“I’LL GO DOWN TO THE GODDAMN FLOOR MYSELF AND STOP IT!” he continued. “Call f—ing Phil Griffin, I don’t care who the f— you have to call. Stop the hammering!”
Phil Griffin is the president of MSNBC, and thus has the power to call off hammering.
Back on Planet O’Donnell, the “Last Word” host instructs his crew to “Empty out the goddamn control room and find out where this is going on!”
We never would find out who this rogue carpenter was.
“F—ing out of control s—,” O’Donnell gripes of his rough now. “Crazy f—ing sound coming in my ear, this stupid f—ing hammering.”
“It just f—ing sucks. It f—ing sucks to be out here with this out of control s—,” he said. “Any f—ing thing could come into my ear at any moment. That’s what I know. Anybody could get into my f—ing ear at any time. Some woman, talking about what we’re doing after the show.”
It is unclear what they did after the show, but it probably wouldn’t qualify as “Happy” Hour. You seriously have to watch the video above.
