“Can we talk about the Scientology thing, just for a minute?” Ellen DeGeneres asked guest Leah Remini on Monday’s season premiere.
The eponymous host then asked the former “King of Queens” star why she made the decision to exit the church.

“My mother got involved when we were very young, so it’s all we really ever knew,” Remini explained. “But over time, my eyes opened and I could no longer be affiliated with the organization.”
“It’s hard and we’ve lost friends,” Remini continued to DeGeneres, confirming that those still in the church are no longer allowed to have contact with those who have left.
