Lebanon in a Fury Over Photobomb Between Miss Israel and Miss Lebanon

“I was very cautious to avoid being in any photo or communication with Miss Israel,” Miss Lebanon Saly Griege says

It’s the photobomb angering a big part of the world.

That’s the issue after Lebanon became enraged that its representative in the Miss Universe competition took a picture with Miss Israel in it; a photo Saly Griege claims was bombed.

“I was very cautious to avoid being in any photo or communication with Miss Israel (that tried several times to have a photo with me),” Miss Lebanon Griege said, claiming Miss Israel Doron Matalon intruded on her photo with Miss Japan and Miss Slovenia. “I was having a photo with Miss Japan, Miss Slovenia and myself; suddenly Miss Israel jumped in, took a selfie, and put it on her social media.”

Matalon took to social media, suggesting she’s not surprised by Griege’s response, but it makes her “sad.”

“Too bad you can not put the hostility out of the game, only for three weeks of an experience of a lifetime that we can meet girls from around the world and also from the neighbouring [sic] country.”

The hostility is so bad, reports suggest the Lebanese government is investigating the photo. The country forbids its citizens from fraternizing with Israelis.

The Miss Universe pageant will take place Sunday in Miami, Florida. MSNBC’s Thomas Robers and NBC’s Natalie Morales will host the competition.
