Legendary Entertainment Names Tim Connors Chief Operating Officer

The company behind Batman taps Marvel veteran

The company behind the Batman movies has tapped a veteran Marvel executive for one of its top positions.

Tim Connors has been named chief operating officer at Legendary Entertainment, the company said Thursday.

“I'm proud to have been a part of what the Marvel team has accomplished over the past 6 years and honored to be joining Legendary at a time when the company is on the verge of significant growth," Connors said in a statement. "They are spearheading bold new initiatives which I am excited to help them accomplish.”

Connors will manage Legendary's day-to-day operations and will report to Legendary’s Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull.

The move comes on the same day that the company announced it was shutting down production on "Paradise Lost" over budget concerns.

Connors served as COO for Marvel Studios since 2008 and executive vice president of business affairs and operations since 2006. At Marvel, he helped oversee the studio's slate of hit comic book adaptations such as "Iron Man" and "Thor," as well as its $4 billion sale to Disney in 2009.

At Legendary, he will be partly tasked with overseeing the roll-out of "The Dark Knight Rises," featuring a character plucked from rival DC Comic's library of characters.

He joins Legendary as the company is expanding its reach and moving from being a co-producer on films like "The Hangover," to developing its own projects.  It has also eyed the Asian market, having recently launched Legendary East, a joint venture in China.

To fund this growth, Legendary closed on a new $700 million credit facility last summer.
