Lenny Robinson, Baltimore’s Batman Impersonator and Viral Sensation, Dead at 51

Faux superhero, known for visiting sick children and getting pulled over by police in costume, struck and killed by car

Lenny Robinson, who rose to Internet fame as the so-called Baltimore Batman, died Sunday night after being struck by a car, Baltimore Fox affiliate WBFF reports. He was 51.

According to police, Robinson, a resident of Owings Mills, Maryland, experienced engine trouble with his car, which is fashioned after the Batmobile, and was checking the engine in the fast lane of he I-70 when he was struck by a Toyota Camry. He was pronounced dead at the scene after troopers responded to a call at approximately 10:30 p.m. ET

The driver of the Camry was uninjured, and no charges have been filed.

Robinson, the president of Superheroes for Kids Inc., was known for visiting terminally ill children and appearing at schools to talk about bullying while dressed as Batman.

He gained viral-video notoriety in 2012 after being pulled over in his Batmobile — in full Batman costume — for not displaying proper tags.
