Lil Za Arrested on Felony Narcotics Possession During Raid at Justin Bieber’s Home

Xavier Smith is believed to have been in possession of ecstasy and Xanax, not cocaine as originally reported

Xavier Smith, 20, better known as rapper Lil Za, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony narcotics possession for what cops now believe to be ecstasy and Xanax, not cocaine.

The arrest stemmed from an unrelated investigation at friend Justin Bieber‘s Calabasas, Calif., mansion on Tuesday morning. Cops originally swarmed the scene to search for evidence in a separate egg-tossing incident last week. According to a neighbor, Bieber caused more than $20,000 in damages by egging his house while he and his daughter were on their balcony.

Smith is currently being held on $20,000 bond, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. The spokesperson said that he expects Smith to post bail and be released shortly this afternoon.

The drug originally presumed to be cocaine is instead likely to be ecstasy and Xanax, though tests are still pending. The spokesperson said that the seized drugs did not represent “a significant amount,” but he did not know the exact weight.

Bieber, 19, was neither arrested nor exonerated for the Jan. 9 vandalism incident as a result of Tuesday’s raid. Police seized security equipment that they hope will prove to be an aid in their original investigation.

The “Boyfriend” singer could potentially face felony vandalism charges from last week’s egging incident, as the reported damage exceeds the $950 minimum to qualify as a felony.
