A horse named Limousine Liberal raced ahead in the home stretch at Churchill Downs on Saturday for a surprise win in the Kentucky Stakes, a race that occurs before the fabled Kentucky Derby.

And social media had a field day with the name of the 5-year-old horse, which was ridden by jockey Jose Ortiz, according to Horse Racing Nation.

“Who knew Bernie Sanders was competing?” tweeted one commenter, while another wrote: “Unlike November 8th 2016, Limousine Liberal wins! Thank God, we won’t have to hear any whining about the Russians hacking.”

Of course, it wasn’t just right-leaning folks who were falling off their saddles at the news.

“Limousine Liberal won but Orange Treasonous Puppet who came second will get the 1st place,” wrote one.

Here are some of the other comments racing around social media.
