"The Lord of the Rings Trilogy" is hoping to add even more loot to its multi-billion take with the April 6 Blu-ray release of all three fantasy films, Warner Brothers announced on Tuesday.
With the repeated delay of Guillermo Del Toro’s prequel, "The Hobbit," the announcement is a rare bit of good news for Middle Earth fans these days. The $99, nine-disc set includes digital copies of each film on three separate discs and also boasts more than seven hours of special features.
However, this package does not include extended additions of the three films, which the studio said will be released on Blu-ray at a later date.
As a nifty bonus, Warners will also release animator Ralph Bakshi’s adaptation of the fantasy saga on Blu-ray the same day that Peter Jackson’s more famous trilogy hits shelves.
