‘Luke Cage’ Comic-Con Footage Puts Harlem Hero Under Fire (Video)

Third Marvel Netflix series to premiere on Sept. 30

“Luke Cage” took Comic-Con by storm on Thursday, with the first footage from the series eliciting a massive fan response.

Intercut with previous seasons of “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones,” we see Cage helping the people of Harlem in true badass style as he gets into a brawl with several hoods, with one of them smashing his hand against Cage’s rock-like jaw.

We also see Mahershala Ali threatening Cage, saying “You wanna go to war? I’ll take you to war.” Ali, known for his role on “House of Cards,” plays Cornell Stokes, a.k.a the villain Cottonmouth.

In another trailer (below), Cage rips a car door off its hinges and cleans out an entire apartment building filled with gangbangers as they try in vain to shoot him.

The third of Netflix’s five planned Marvel series stars Mike Colter as the indestructible Luke Cage, a role he originally played on “Jessica Jones,” starring Krysten Ritter, which dropped in November.

Cheo Hodari Coker will write the first two episodes of “Luke Cage” in addition to serving as showrunner and executive producer on the series from Marvel Studios in association with ABC Studios. Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson and Sonia Braga will also star.

“Luke Cage” will be followed by “Iron Fist,” which recently cast “Game of Thrones” star Finn Jones in the lead role. The four heroes will then team up for “The Defenders.”

The entire first season of “Marvel’s Luke Cage” hits Netflix on Sept. 30.
