‘Mad Men’ Unearths LBJ’s KKK & Goldwater Ad

Hit drama shows 1964 Lyndon Johnson ad that mentions his presidential rivals Klan endorsement

Last night's episode of "Mad Men" created another water cooler moment by screening an unaired 1964 presidential campaign ad linking Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater and the Ku Klux Klan. The ad commissioned for President Lyndon Johnson made hay out of his opponent's endorsement by the white supremacist group. In "Mad Men" Peggy Olsen hears the ad's creator lament the fact that the commecial never made it to prime time, even though the famous atom bomb-daisy advertisement did make the grade.
