‘Magnificent Seven’ First Trailer Shows Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt Fighting for Justice (Video)

Remake of classic Western to premiere Sept. 23

The new trailer for “The Magnificent Seven” finds Denzel Washington considering a proposition.

“I seek righteousness,” he’s told. “But I’ll take revenge.”

Washington plays gunslinger Sam Chisolm, who is called upon to save the town of Rose Creek from the brutal reign of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard).

Chisolm recruits six other men to help him liberate the town, namely: Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier).

The MGM-Columbia film also stars Cam Gigandet, Haley Bennett, Matt Bomer, and Vinnie Jones. Antoine Fuqua, who directed Washington to an Oscar in “Training Day,” directs this project. John Lee Hancock, Richard Wenk and Nic Pizzolatto wrote the screenplay.

The film is a remake of the 1960 Western classic of the same name, which starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Eli Wallach, Charles Bronson and James Coburn. That film was itself a remake of the 1954 Akira Kurosawa film “Seven Samurai.”

Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black served as producers on the project, with Kat Samick serving as co-producer. Escape Artists, LStar Capital, MGM, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Village Roadshow Pictures produced.

“The Magnificent Seven” premieres in theaters on Sept. 23.
