Marcus, 5th-Largest U.S. Movie Theater Chain, Signs On With Fandango

With addition of the Milwaukee-based circuit’s 685 screens, Fandango sells tickets to more than 26,000 U.S. screens

Marcus Theatres will become a preferred ticketing partner for online broker Fandango, the two companies said Tuesday.

With the addition of Marcus Theatres and its 685 screens, Fandango will be the largest online ticket-seller for the nation’s top seven theater chains (Regal, AMC, Cinemark, Carmike, Marcus Theatres, Southern and Harkins). Fandango’s U.S. screen count is now up to more than 26,000.

As part of the multi-year deal, the Milwaukee-based Marcus will link its online and mobile sites directly to Fandango. In return, Fandango will provide Marcus  with online and mobile ticketing across all platforms, serving its many locations throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Ohio.

Rolando Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer of Marcus Theatres, said the company was committed to providing convenience for its customers.

“We’ve added amenities that contribute to the movie experience, such as DreamLounger recliner seating, premium large-format screens and enhanced dining options,” he said. “With Fandango, we’ve significantly extended our customer’s ability to locate and purchase tickets whenever they want and on whatever platform they choose.”
