Mario Batali issued an apology for the sexual misconduct accusations recently posed against him via an online newsletter sent out on Friday, but it was accompanied by an odd attachment: a link to his recipe for Pizza Dough Cinnamon Rolls.

Following his termination from “The Chew,” the celebrity chef acknowledged his “many mistakes” and apologized for disappointing “my friends, my family, my fans and my team.”

“My behavior was wrong and there are no excuses. I take full responsibility,” the message reads. “Sharing the joys of Italian food, tradition and hospitality with all of you, each week, is an honor and privilege. Without the support of all of you — my fans — I would never have a forum in which to expound on this.”

“I will work every day to regain your respect and trust,” Batali added, along with the recipe.

Batali regularly offer recipes in emails sent to those who register on his website, but the inclusion of this one (given the poor timing) sparked intense conversation on social media.

A representative for Batali did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

On Monday, Eater published a report that Batali had been accused by four women of sexual misconduct and groping over two decades. Three of the four women were Batali employees.

ABC cut Batali from “The Chew” on Thursday following a review into the accusations. Amid the fallout from the accusations, retail giant Target likewise chose to pull its Batali-branded products from its stores and website.

Batali’s statement (including the recipe) can be seen below.
