On the same night President Trump railed against the news media in Phoenix, California congresswoman Maxine Waters had a different message: “Not only will we resist you, we will impeach you, Mr. President.’”

The 78-year-old Democrat was being honored at the annual Black Girls Rock award ceremony. The event recognizes black women for their excellence in fields that range from entertainment to entrepreneurship with award categories like “Trailblazer” and “Young, Gifted and Black.”

Waters, known as Auntie Maxine to her fans, told critics during her acceptance speech: “If you come for me, I’m coming for you.” She called out “right-wing, ultra-conservative, alt-right haters.”

She started off her message by saying if it wasn’t for the “love and respect” shown to her by black women, her “haters” would have her thinking that “I’m too black, I’m too confrontational and I’m too disrespectful of them, but now I know I’m simply a strong, black woman.”

“I don’t care how big you are, I don’t care how high you think you are,” Waters added. “If you come for me, I’m coming for you.”

“Whether it’s the president of the United States of America or any of his cabinet, we will say to them, ‘We will resist you, we will not allow you to damage this country in the way that you’re doing, we will not allow you to take us backwards. Not only will we resist you, we will impeach you, Mr. President.’”
