Megan Fox will guest star on the fifth season of Fox’s “New Girl,” but the actress at first suspected “ulterior motives” when she was approached to appear on the show.

“I thought there must be some ulterior motive,” Fox told TheWrap at an event celebrating “New Girl’s” 100th episode on Wednesday. “Like they were going to break their first transgender character and they thought it would be funny if it was me.”

Whether or not Fox’s character turns out to be transgender or not is unknown at this time. What we do know is she will play a character named Reagan, who moves into the loft when Jess (Zooey Deschanel) is sequestered on jury duty. In real life, Deschanel will leave the show briefly on maternity leave.

At the same event, series star Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, told TheWrap that he did not understand how intensive making it to 100 episodes would be.

“It’s a marathon, and I didn’t realize that’s what network TV was when I started,” Johnson said. “I thought it was more like a movie, which feels more like a sprint. So it’s a wild thing to still be doing the same show. As long as it can go at this point, it feels worth it to see where it goes.”

“New Girl” returns for its fifth season on Fox on Jan. 5.
