The podcast network Parcast reported 100 million downloads last year with podcasts like “Gone” and “Mind’s Eye.”
Some new ventures stand out by being bright and shiny. Parcast, which produces scripted podcasts on topics like conspiracy theories and murders, has stood out in a crowded podcast space by going dark.
Two years after its launch, Parcast finished 2018 as one of only two networks with more than one podcast on Apple’s list of 25 most-downloaded newcomers. It’s an especially impressive accomplishment for a network with no celebrity hosts or major media backing.
