Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s previously untitled Netflix series has been given a name.

Never Have I Ever [Netflix] 2020,” Kaling tweeted of the show’s title on Friday.

The comedian and actress couldn’t resist throwing in a quip, saying in a second tweet, “That is not my presidential campaign announcement.”

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed that the title is for the upcoming series inspired by Kaling’s childhood. “Never Have I Ever” will revolve around main character Devi, who is described as an overachieving high school sophomore who has a short fuse that gets her into difficult situations.

Devi will be played by newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who was cast after Kaling put out a tweet for an open casting call for the role in April. Over 15,000 people responded to it. This will be Ramakrishnan’s first on-screen role. Poorna Jagannathan will play Nalini, Devi’s mom.

Kaling (“The Office,” “The Mindy Project”) and Fisher (“The Mindy Project,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) are co-creators, co-writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Howard Klein (“The Office,” “Parks and Recreation”) David Miner (“30 Rock,” “Master of None”) and Tristram Shapeero (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) will also executive produce.

The 10-episode series is under Kaling’s deal with Universal TV, which she is leaving for a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. TV.
