Misty Copeland, the first African American prima ballerina for the American Ballet Theater, has joined Disney’s forthcoming “Nutcracker” adaptation.
Based on the classic E.T.A Hoffman story, “The Nutcracker and The Four Realms,” is set up at the studio with Mark Gordon producing.
Copeland will, naturally, play lead ballerina in the film and star in the project’s only dance sequence. The rock-star-status dancer announced her casting Instagram.
