Top 20 TV Ratings: ‘Mom’ Among CBS Comedy Premieres to Infiltrate the Ranks

NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” just edges out Fox’s World Series Game 7

The usual suspects got some serious new comedy competition last week for TheWrap‘s Top 20 ratings report, as CBS sitcom premieres invaded the Nielsen sheets.

At the top, however, were sports broadcasts. NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” game just barely edged Fox’s World Series Game 7, with its 6.7 rating in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic topping the Major League Baseball championship clincher’s 6.6.

Behind the third place “SNF” pregame show (5.0), was the Thursday time period premiere of “The Big Bang Theory,” which earned a 4.1.

NBC’s Monday “The Voice” (3.7) closed out the Top 5.

Down the list, CBS sitcom “Mom” returned for its sophomore season with a 2.5, good enough to match NBC’s “The Blacklist” at No. 16. One-tenth of a point and a tie-breaking spot lower, other CBS comedy premieres “2 Broke Girls” and “Two and a Half Men” locked horns at No. 18, both pulling in a 2.4 rating.

To make the Top 20 this week, a show needed at least a 2.3. Last week the bottom line was one-tenth of a ratings point higher.
