“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski waded into the scandal surrounding The Weinstein Company’s co-founder Harvey Weinstein, announcing on Saturday that she “can’t go forward” with her three-book deal with TWC’s publishing division “unless Harvey resigns.”

“Harvey Weinstein needs to resign from his companies, face his sickness, and go into a long, self-imposed exile,” Brzezinski tweeted Saturday morning.

“Authors, actors, and moviemakers should not work for any Weinstein company until he resigns. Not a close call. #knowyourvalue,” she continued. “I have a three-book deal with Weinstein Books, through Hachette. I can’t go forward with those books unless Harvey resigns.”

Friday’s episode of the MSNBC morning show buried any mention of the Weinstein bombshell that rocked Hollywood, waiting until the closing minutes of their final hour to report the sexual misconduct allegations that forced the Hollywood mogul to take a leave of absence from The Weinstein Company.

“Morning Joe” took a rather quiet approach to the news of the Weinstein scandal and also didn’t mention that Brzezinski had signed a three-book deal with Weinstein Books, a partnership with Hachette Book Group.

An MSNBC spokesperson declined to comment about the coverage.

Brzezinski’s first release with Weinstein Books is expected to be an expanded edition of her 2011 book, “Knowing Your Value: Women, Money, and Getting What You’re Worth,” scheduled for release this spring.
