‘Morning Joe’ Praises Trump-Kim Summit: ‘I Feel a Sense of Relief’ (Video)

“Maybe calling him little rocket man, maybe threatening him, got these two together,” says host Joe Scarborough

On Tuesday, Joe Scarborough admitted that he was relieved to see the Donald Trump-Kim Jong Un summit going well and that maybe the president was right about his approach to the reclusive dictatorship.

“I’ve got to admit, when I see these two people shaking hands, I feel a sense of relief,” said Scarborough.

“This is a hell of a lot better than a nuclear war,” he added while speculating about how American voters would respond to the images of Trump and Kim. “And who knows, maybe shaking things up, maybe saying no to the experts, maybe raising hell on the world stage, maybe calling him ‘little rocket man,’ maybe threatening him got these two together.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski offered two words: “I agree.”

On Monday,  Trump and Kim Jong Un met in Singapore for a half-day meeting and lunch with top advisors. At the end of meetings, the two parties produced a joint statement committing themselves to the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, though no timetable was given.

In exchange, Trump committed to ending war games between the U.S. and North Korea which he called “provocative” and also added that it was his desire to eventually remove U.S. soldiers from South Korea.

In an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos — his first non-Fox News appearance since March 2017 — Trump said he trusted Kim Jong Un and believed he was sincere in his desire to stabilize relations between the two countries.
