MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough has a message for President Trump’s adviser Steve Bannon: “When you take on the family, you lose.”
Bannon and Jared Kushner have been long rumored to have a feud within the White House, but only one of them is married to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.
“Here’s the thing everybody misses, there is no internal battle,” Scarborough said. “When you take on the family, you lose.”
Last week, Trump confirmed that Bannon and Kushner have been infighting, admitting that he “told them to straighten it out or I will.” Scarborough is on to something, as Trump seemed to admit that he would side with his son-in-law if forced to make a decision.
“I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late,” Trump told the New York Post. “I had already beaten all the senators and all the governors, and I didn’t know Steve. I’m my own strategist and it wasn’t like I was going to change strategies because I was facing crooked Hillary.”
Bannon recently called Kushner a “cuck” behind his back, according to the The Daily Beast. The insult, popular among the conservative Breitbart News set, is short for “cuckold,” or the husband of an adulteress.
Kushner was a lifelong Democrat until Trump’s campaign began and has seen his role within the Trump Administration increase over the past few weeks.
