Movieline Adds Elvis Mitchell, Jen Yamato & Alonso Duralde

The former New York Times movie critic will serve as Chief Film Critic alongside Stephanie Zacharek

Movieline has added a prominent, not to mention impressive trio to its burgeoning ranks, including former New York Times critic Elvis Mitchell and reputable film writers Jen Yamato and Alonso Duralde.

Mitchell will serve as Chief Film Critic for Movieline, along with Stephanie Zacharek, who shares the same title. Michelle Orange is also on staff as a critic.

Yamato has been named West Coast Editor after being a steady contributor to Movieline for some time. She previously served as the Senior Editor at RottenTomatoes.com, and has established an online presence as the film critic for Movies.com and as a regular contributor to Cinematical, Film.com and FEAR.net. Yamato also co-hosts the web show First Dollar Gross along with Todd Gilchrist, Luke Y. Thomas, Damon Houx and Amy Nicholson.

Duralde will serve as Movieline's DVD Editor. An author and former MSNBC.com entertainment writer, he previously worked as the Arts & Entertainment Editor for The Advocate. Duralde also spent five years as the Artistic Director for the USA Film Festival/Dallas, and has also served as a programmer for the Outfest Film Festival and a pre-screener for the Sundance Film Festival.

Mitchell currently hosts the KCRW radio program "The Treatment." He plans to review film each week as well as conduct interviews and write features about popular entertainment and the film industry for the consumer site.

“Movieline represents the future of film journalism and I love what they have been doing,” Mitchell said in a statement. “Any place smart enough to bring Stephanie Zacharek to the party is definitely a site I want to be a part of.”

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about Elvis Mitchell joining the team,” said Movieline.com General Manager and Editorial Director Charles Runnette. “Elvis is a leading voice not only in film criticism and popular culture but in the business of film, all of the things that Movieline is about. Bringing on Jen and Alonso further rounds out our already impressive line-up of talented writers and editors, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to make Movieline.com the Internet’s top film review and commentary site, period.”
