Natalie Portman Gets Blasted Into Space in ‘Lucy in the Sky’ Teaser (Video)

Fox Searchlight drama directed by Noah Hawley also stars Jon Hamm, Zazie Beetz and Dan Stevens

Natalie Portman heads for the stars in upcoming space drama “Lucy in the Sky,” but she finds that coming back down to Earth is a lot tougher.

In the new teaser trailer released Tuesday, we see female astronaut Lucy Cola (Portman) suited up for a mission, kissing her husband Drew (Dan Stevens) goodbye before being blasted into space.

“You got to see the vast celestial everything and it blew your mind, so now nothing makes sense,” fellow astronaut Mark Goodwin, played by Jon Hamm, tells Cola after her lengthy mission.

The pair embark on an affair that destroys Cola’s family, sends her entire life on a downward spiral and into a bitter love triangle.

“Lucy in the Sky” reunites Stevens with “Legion” creator Noah Hawley, and also stars Zazie Beetz, Ellen Burstyn, Colman Domingo and Nick Offerman.

The Fox Searchlight Pictures film is loosely based on Lisa Nowak’s reported criminal activities around her romantic involvement with fellow astronaut William Oefelein.

Nowak flew aboard Space Shuttle Discovery in July 2006, but the following year she was charged with the attempted kidnapping of U.S. Air Force Cpt. Colleen Shipman, who also had an affair with Oefelein. Nowak ultimately pled guilty to lesser charges and was sentenced to a year’s probation.

“Lucy in the Sky” is set for release later this year.
