New showrunner Charles “Chic” Eglee joins Season 2 of the riveting supernatural thriller. His past credits include “The Walking Dead,” “Dexter,” and “The Shield.” The character of Shelley fascinated Eglee from the start.
“Shelley was very much the beating heart of the show last season, and really, the only pure soul in the otherwise toxic stew of ‘Hemlock Grove,’” he told Huffington Post. “I was so moved by the character last year.”
The execution of Shelley’s character changed on a weekly basis based on various production strategies last season. To simplify the process, Eglee recast Martin in the role. The producers told Martin they planned on taking Shelley in a slightly different direction this year, which gave her the freedom to put her own spin on the character.
