New ‘Moana’ Trailer Promises Trouble in Polynesian Paradise (Video)

Disney film featuring voice of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson premieres in theaters on Nov. 23

Things are heating up in the new “Moana” trailer.

We get our first extended look at the film, including more of the cocky heroics of the Polynesian demi-god Maui (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), like when he has to fight a giant made of lava.

The Disney film tells the story of Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho), a young girl who wants to prove to her people that she can be a master wayfinder. She sets out with Maui on a quest for a mystical island and to find herself.

The cast also features the voices of Alan Tudyk and Phillipa Soo. Ron Clements and John Musker co-directed. They also worked on the screenplay, along with Taika Waititi, Jared Bush and Pamela Ribbon. John Lasseter executive produced with Osnat Shurer producing.

The film will feature original music from “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with music by Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina.

“Moana” sails into theaters on Nov. 23
